If You Think It’s Expensive to Hire a Professional…

A company’s corporate event is an extremely important part of the business year. A successful event will promote and reinforce brand image, extend corporate messages to potential clients, improve staff morale and even stimulate good publicity.

It is imperative for the company that all aspects of the event are faultless and effective. The success of the gala, convention, awards dinner, exhibition or conference hangs in the balance of a few contributing factors; venue, food, atmosphere and the most important aspect of all – the entertainment.

Before selecting entertainment for your event, it is important that you consider the demographic of your guest list, the logistics of your chosen venue and the desired image of the event. If you want to create a sophisticated atmosphere and have a varied age group in an intimate venue, you wouldn’t book a Britney Spears impersonator with an 8 piece band.

Quality is key when selecting entertainment. Make sure that you select an entertainment group who are experienced in corporate events and understand how important the success of their act is for your company. There are plently of entertainment groups around who perform as a hobby in addition to their ‘real job’. You can usually pick up these kinds of acts for a cheaper price but, before you sign on the dotted line, think carefully. When so much is riding on the success of the event, is it worth saving that little amount and risking everything?

“If you think it’s expensive to hire a professional – wait until you hire an amateur”

My advice is hire an act with experience – professionals – who understand that their success is your success, their image is your image. Look at booking an entertainment option that will include the use of your logo or mission statement into their performance by use of costuming, voice over or audience participation. After all, the intention of all the effort is to promote your company and what it represents.
